I hesitated buying this lantern before seeing it, but I have no buyer's remorse. The whitish glass in this pole lantern casts a nice light. The arts and crafts design is stylish and well constructed from aluminum with a bronze finish.
What is not visible from the picture is that the lantern is open at the bottom. I thought this might be a problem, since bugs would go in and light would come out. Neither has been a deal breaker problem.
Quoizel also make an identical looking model that takes a fluorescent bulb with a special base, however, I recommend buying the regular model. The special fluorescent bulb is more economical than an incandescent bulb, but this is not a real advantage. Instead of using incandescent bulbs in my regular lantern model, I use compact fluorescent bulbs with standard bases that are easier to find, cheaper to buy, and just as economical to run as the special fluorescent bulb used in the other lantern model.
