Steel City Tool Works 40610CH 6-Inch Cast Iron Bench Jointer with Helical Cutter Head Review

I purchase this jointer because of a very small shop. Most of my bigger tools are bench tops except the table saw. I purchase this jointer because of the helical cutters. It also has cast iron in and out feeds and is very sturdy for it's size. I have not been able to use the jointer because I have not successfully planed a board. I decided today to try to find out why and it turned out that the out feed table was higher that the tip of the cutters so the board was always lifting when it got to the out feed. The first 1.5 inches or so are cut and then nothing after that . I was getting a rounded board. I took the out feed table off and found the levelers. I have worked at making it correct for four hours and have not found the right mix. There are four screws and to get it perfect has been a real challenge.
Update: connected with Steel City and the apologized and gave me solution that worked very well.
A while later I have used the Steel City several times with a much improved results. I have bumped it up to 4 stars to better indicate its abilities.
