I only gave it four stars because it will be a decade before I know for sure if this product meets my expectations. We have been solely heating our house with wood for over 30 years during the winters. We have always used JOTUL stoves for their energy efficiency. We purchased our second stove, a JOTUL Firelight Model 12 in 1996. It is a beautiful stove that was engineered for ease of use. Very easy to load and remove ash. But the stove was equipped with a catalytic combustor which has been nothing but problems. When the ceramic honeycomb is removed it falls apart in your hands, it is so fragile. We replace it after a couple of years the first time and I decided to not touch it again. Well after a decade the stove stopped heating and filled the house with smoke. We bought the steelcast combustor because it is less fragile. This more ruggedized product met my expectations. The wood stove is back to being an efficient heat source again. This product is advertised to begin the catalytic function about 100 degrees F lower than the ceramic combustor. That is a good feature because we allow the stove to provide a constant warm heat rather than a blazing fire. We have been using the product for a month now and have no complaints.
