I ordered this gate opener along with the 14 foot dual swing "St.Petersburg" gate. As I did with the gate, I purchased stainless steel bolts, washers and lock nuts to avoid future rusting problems. All stainless hardware for both the gate and opener cost about $80.00 at our local hardware store. This also lets you buy the exact lengths you need. Most of the included bolts are too long and the instructions call for cutting them to your required length--a sure route to rust. Since I had low rockeries on each side of the gate I had to mount the control box on my shop building about 75 feet away. I talked to the opener distributor and was assured that running the wires up to 95 feet was OK. I had to order 200 feet of the 5 core wire from the distributor. Each opener has to have it's own wire to the control box. I dug a trench from the gate to the shop (I'm lucky to own a backhoe) and installed 1.5" PVC conduit. Also had to dig across the driveway and install a 1" conduit for the second opener. I found a good deal on Amazon for a Greenlee 125' fishtape which I used to pull the wires through the conduit. I happened to have and 80 foot length of thermostat wire (8 wires in a single cable) so I pulled that through as well in case I want to add some accessory later. The opener ships with an alarm light and an infrared sensor set which would require extra wires. Also included were two remote controls which I was told would only reach about 30 feet but they work fine from 90 feet away even inside the car. A wall switch is included as well but you will have to provide the wire from the control box to wherever you mount the switch. A power cord to supply 120 VAC is not included either. I used a simple extension cord, cutting it to length and eliminating the socket end. The way the wires are connected in the control box make it imperative to solder the wire ends before inserting them into the plugs. The plugs can be pulled off the pins to get better access to the screws you must loosen to insert the wire and then tighten the screw. There will be a total of 10 wires in the plug--5 from each opener. The 120VAC wire has a separate terminal block. The wall switch wires and other accessory wires go to a separate connector. There is a fair amount of programming to do once it is all wired and powered up. The programming instructions are very well written but if you are old like me I suggest you read them over several times first. There are a number of things involving timing of the gates that you have to decide how you want them to behave and program them according. Enabling the remotes is easy. Press the "Learn" button and press the remote button twice within one second. The gate is working great and has drawn many complements. I figure it cost a total of $1500.00 including the conduit, stainless bolts and the 5 core wire. Judging by the bids I got to just have a gate installed I saved $5000.00 by buying through Amazon and doing the work myself. Not a bad payday! I did not bother with a battery backup system since it requires two batteries in series (24VDC) and then you would need a battery tender to keep them charged. The opener comes with two release keys which allow you to quickly release the openers and open and close the gate manually. I keep one in the glove box just in case. The control box has hung up twice in two weeks making the gate inoperable. I had to disconnect the 120VAC power for a few seconds and reconnect it. That got it working again. I have not investigated what might have caused this problem. If it happens again I will try to find out why. Most of the consumer Reviews tell that the "ALEKO® AS1200ACC Solar Power Compatible Gate Opener Operator for Dual Swing Gates up to 20-feet Long and 1320-pounds," are high quality item.
