Honeywell Ythx9421r5101ww 2 Wire IAQ Kit with Sensors Review

We got this thermostat installed about a week ago and I can only say positive things about this package so far. The touch interface is nice and the color display looks great. The icons are smooth with no jaggies or 8 bit looking graphics, everything looks crisp and the touch sensitivity seems spot on. The install was done by an HVAC friend of ours, I watched and am tech savvy, it would be pretty simple for a DIY'er if you were familiar with wiring and could read wiring diagrams on the furnace side of things. If you don't want to mess with furnace wiring this is something you shouldn't attempt to install yourself. This thermostat only uses a common and hot wire from the furnace and has no battery backup. If your power is out this is dead. It does have a CR2032 installed to keep your settings until the power does come back on. We have ours hooked up to a brand new furnace/AC/Humidifier and this unit controls it all with ease. It has an outside sensor that tell the outside humidity and temp and will make automatic adjustments to ensure your humidifier wont fog up your windows in the cooler months(a specific menu in the stat is setup to tweak this).

The web interface is great, the GUI is well thought out and I have the apps for both iPad, iPhone and Android. They all look and work the same way. The app it self connects via the internet to the gateway (which is not included with this bundle from what I can tell) so if you want mobile access to your heating and cooling you will need to pick up the redlink internet gateway and connect that to your router via a wired connection.

Overall this is great and with the redlink it s great alternative to the NEST stat, this has a ton of added options that make this less of a novelty with actual warnings and diagnostics capabilities. I will post back after a few months with any additional thoughts or troubles we may have.
