Very few items get the Wow from me. This tool does. It is incredible how strong and light this little tool is... The balance is good, too good. I am used to the old impact that was like a brick compared to this. Fuel is the new thing from Milwaukee and at first I was skeptical. I usually wait on newer tools but mine were getting up there and I figured I would pull the trigger.First, the tool is lightweight. I enjoy the light on it as well. Makes driving screws, etc in dark spots a snap. I appreciate the new style of battery. On and off is a breeze. The old batteries I had could be a challenge. Many will find the 3 power setting option on this tool interesting. Despite the pressure sensitive trigger, it has 3 power settings. This is a great thing because you will break many screws and bolts with this little tool otherwise.
Power and speed is absolutely amazing. In fact, this thing is rated at 1600 inch lbs. From an 18 volt tool, and I believe it... That is insane power from a tiny tool. That is more then Dewalt's new 20 volt tool. And what's more amazing is the milwaukee batteries last longer between charges then Makita or Dewalt. That isn't just a Milwaukee claim, I have seen it firsthand. Now there is even a 4 amp hour xc battery! With that, this thing should go days on end. I don't have any compact batteries, so I have no idea how they are on this tool. But, the regular 3 amp hour xc's are great so far. We will see on the battery thing. All cordless tools seem to struggle on the batteries after a while. Milwaukee isn't innocent in having made garbage batteries before... But hopefully that is all in the past.
I like the bit holder option for this thing in conjuction with the belt clip. I think it is lame that you have to buy them separate. Come on Milwaukee, seriously? You would think you could jack up the cost a few bucks if it is that big a deal to include them. But at least the provision is there. I bought mine and like it. Don't use the clip much, so I am considering putting another bit holder on if I can.
My favorite improvement is the hands free chuck for inserting bits. Just push in. A huge thing, that seems small. This means you can pop in a bit with one hand instead of two. Thus allowing you to hold something else. The older Milwaukee didn't do that... To remove the bit though, you must pull the holder forward.
So far, I am truly amazed by my Fuel tools. So was my brother, and a couple of friends... After using my impact, they both went out and bought them. Funny enough was that one of the guys swore off Milwaukee. But he changed his mind fast. I know Milwaukee has pissed off a lot of loyal customers in the past few years, but hopefully, these new tools will pull them back. These are serious tools. Contractor abuse ready tools! I have noticed too that lately a lot more red is being seen then yellow and blue on jobsites. Milwaukee is definately on to something. And as long as they are, I will endorse the new fuel impact and hammerdrill/driver without hesitation. I don't know of anything better today!
